The fusiotherm®-pipe system made by aquatherm has proved its technical suitability in worldwide applications for 25 years and is highly recognized by experts as one of the most extensive and at the same time best plastic pipe system.
The program contains five different types of pipe - from cold water pipes to patented fibre-composite pipes with outside diameter from 16 mm to 250 mm. In addition there are over 400 fittings in the range. The Fusiotherm®-pipe system consists of:
This wide range of pipes and fittings give ideal and adequate solutions for all fields of application. Jointing technique is simple and easily learnt. The result of the fusion of pipe and fitting is an homogeneous joining of the system components. fusiotherm® is manufactured from polypropylene PP-R (80), a non-polluting and future-orientated material.
In the field of plastic welding is a homogeneous connection of two similar materials. Two elements of the same material are connected directly - without adding any means of connection. The following fusion techniques are applied for hot and cold potable water supplies: Heating element socket welding
Electrofusion socket weldingThe electro-fusion fittings, applied for electro socket welding, are equipped with integrated resistance wires, which are current-carrying during the fusion process. By this the inner diameter of the socket and the outer diameter of the pipe are heated up to welding temperature resulting in a melting mass on both parts. After their cooling there is an inseparable homogeneous connection. The necessary electrical energy is automatically supplied by suitable electro-fusion devices. Environmental influences are considered by the barcode and temperature compensation of the electro-fusion device. Butt weldingWhile heating element butt-welding the connection surfaces of the parts to be welded are leveled under pressure at the heating element, then heated up to welding temperature with reduced pressure and after removal of the heating element joint under pressure. To determine the pipe diameter in potable water networks of buildings numerous principles of calculation are necessary. The revised version of DIN 1988 provides a simplified and differentiated method of calculation. The simplified method is suitable for clearly arranged pipes i.e. in residential buildings. The differentiated method includes all pipes and local resistance's and offers the highest accuracy as well as the most accurate approximation of real operating conditions. The determining of the pipe diameter requires the following data:
DIN 1988 T3 Part 3 of the DIN 1988 (Technical Rules for Potable Water Installations) stipulates the calculation principles for the determining of the pipe diameter. The determining of the pipe diameter is based on the calculation of the loss of pressure in pipes. Beside the diameter the loss of pressure depends on the length of the pipe, the pipe material an on the flow rate, dependent on the quantity and size of the water points to which the pipe is connected. The basis for determining the maximum flow rate should be calculated on the desired flow rate of each water point. The simultaneous use resp. the peak pressure of flow of an installation part has to be determined by taking the calculation values from DIN 1988 T 3 as a basis. A further criterion for the selection of the pipe diameter is the maximum permissible flow rate. Because of sonic reasons and for the limitation of water hammer, the calculated flow rate may not exceed the values of the table below. Section of the installation
The experience of more than twenty years in manufacturing and application of PP-R sanitary and heating pipes and the simultaneous endeavor to continuous development led to numerous improvements in the aquatherm-system-technology. The priority of the product-development was the constant extension of the product range as well as the development of stabilized pipes - first as stabi-composite-pipe later as faser-composite-pipe. On doing this special importance was attached with the producer of the raw material to optimize the material characteristics. The increasing globalization of the market and the resulting competitive pressure challange to highest independence concerning the choice of material and its development. Especially for this purpose aquatherm`s management came up with a team specialized on product, process and material engineering which had the objective of developing an own innovative raw material. This raw material should correspond to the national and international standards of the sanitary and heating technology, as well as to the demands of industry, agriculture, private households, etc. It was very important to set such a high standard for the raw material development that the characteristics of former material are surpassed. So in an unequaled teamwork aquatherm developed a raw material, which now under the brand-name Fusiolen® is the basis of our pipe and fitting production and - referring to its excellent material characteristics - won worldwide recognition.
Potable water is one of the best controlled commodity goods. The domestic supply system should influence the water on its way up to the taps as little as possible. Choosing the right sanitary pipe system and its material is of great importance. Fusiotherm®-pipe systems are suitable for all different qualities of potable water. The environmentally friendly and hygienically enhanced potable water pipe system made from Fusiolen® is physiologically and microbiologically harmless. The technical suitability of the Fusiotherm®-pipe system has been evident worldwide for more than 20 years.
Numerous international certificates like
and more testify to the high quality standard of the green pipes.
The extrapolated service life of Fusiotherm® pipes is more than 50 years. Peak temperatures of 100° C arising from short disruptions are unproblematic. Using Fusiotherm® pipes for heating applications the pressure- and temperature conditions according to table “Permissible Working Pressure” are valid. The following table shows the operating conditions related to pressure and temperature as a basis for pipe and pipe connections. These figures refer to potable water installations based on a fictitious service life of 50 years
According to DIN 1988 T2 all installation parts coming directly in contact with potable water are commodity goods acc. to the spirit of the Law for Food and Commodity Goods. Plastic pipes have to comply with the KTW-recommendations of the Federal Public Health Department. Material: The hygienic suitability of the material used for the fusiotherm®-pipe system is independently verified through test certificates from the Hygiene Institute Gelsenkirchen. The suitability for potable water pipes in the field of cold and warm water is confirmed by current tests Processing: The joining method requires no additives such as fluxes or solder. The connection is made by socket fusion. Potable water - The increasing use of PP in the field of food packing confirms the hygienic qualities of the material. This makes fusiotherm® the optimal packing for one of our most precious commodity goods - our potable water. Advantages
By adding suitable and food-approved additives the risk of a material damage (see diagram) caused by metalions under extreme conditions of application are evidently reduced.
Higher Long-term heat stabilization The long-term stabilization was increased to resist possible influences of peak temperatures with higher safety. Optimal completion of the manufacturer-system With this step aquatherm enlarges the Fusiotherm® system by using its proper raw material for production. Applicating the aquatherm-products made of Fusiolen® the user profits of the competence and experience of the market leader of PP-R-pipe-systems.
fusiotherm® -pipe and fittings comply with the requirements of the fire classification B2 DIN 4102 (normal inflammable). Compared to natural products like wood, cork or wool, fusiotherm®-pipes do not produce any gas toxicity. Therefore, in case of fire, there is no risk of dioxin emissions. To avoid fire and smoke transmission aquatherm advises the use of fire retardant seals. The fire resistance period is the minimum period in minutes. The extent of the preventive measures depends on the kind of installation. The determining of fire areas and fire classification has to be made in acc. with the law of the country. Information is given by the Planning Department and Building Control Office or the Fire Protection Representative. Basically fire walls and ceilings with pipe passages have to be installed to the same fire resistance classification. All fire protection systems with a corresponding classification are suitable for fusiotherm®-pipes. aquatherm recommends the Rockwool®-Conlit fire retardant seals as ideal solution for the fusiotherm®-pipe system. Detailed information about the draft-guidelines 2000 will be given by our technical hotline or directly by Rockwool GmbH Fire Load The values required for determining the fire load within a fire section are calculated from the total of all flammable materials located within this area. The calculation for establishing the combustion heat V [kWh/m] for a fire section in the event of an outbreak is dependent on dimensions and materials. The basis used for the calculation of Fusiotherm®-pipes made of PP-R (80) is the lower calorific value Hu = 12.2 kWh/kg (as per DIN V 18230 T1) in conjunction with the mass of material mpipe [kg/m]. For fusiotherm®-stabi composite pipes, the proportion of integrated aluminum is also taken into account. Depending on the calculation procedure, the fire load is worked out with reference to the burn-up factor. This value is designated as mfactor and is taken as 0.8 for polypropylene. Combustion values V [kWh/m] for fusiotherm®-pipes
Advantages The system includes all necessary components for a complete installation starting from water meter up to the last tap. Mixed installations are things of the past. Assembly fusiotherm® stops corrosion damages. All materials are corrosion resistant and -compared to metallic pipes- have less noise flow rate. fusiotherm®-pipes are opaque – no danger of algae development. Installation fusiotherm® offers an unique and unrivalled connection process: material union by fusion. Shortest connection times are convincing: e.g. outside diameter 20 mm = 8 sec. fusiotherm®connections can be hydraulic pressure tested or put into operation directly after their fusion. There are no waiting times. Composite Technology aquatherm developed a manufacturing method, realizing the integration of aluminum resp. a special faser mixture within the material polypropylene. The result of this innovative technology is the unique compound of the different materials. fusiotherm®-faser composite pipe. The advantages:
